Hello and welcome! My name is Daniela and this is where I share my never ending passion and interest for Fashion History. It all started when I was very young and I did everything I could to follow my dream – to become a fashion designer. However, soon I realised that I was more interested to learn and understand the concept and history of fashion rather than designing something new. The aim for this blog is to share knowledge about Fashion and its context and concept throughout the years and also learn from you my readers. All my content is as accurate as possible and I hope it can also be used as an online resource for fashion students, enthusiasts and other researchers. Please enjoy and thank you for stopping by! X

For middle aged women these evening dresses must have revolutionary, and perhaps even embarrassing to wear…..NO Corset ( or at least, nothing resembling the underwear of 20 years early.
…must have interesting for male dancing partners to feel real flesh and bones, not coutil and whalebone.

Yes, I definitely agree! It took a while for older women to adopt these new fashions. Some were completely against it for years and refused to stop wearing corsets as well! It’s interesting that you pointed that out, considering that you don’t really find much about how this new age of fashion affected middle-age women.
In terms of the changes in underwear, women were constantly under the radar of indecency because their bodies were more exposed than ever! Men were able to be feel the female body in a different way now so I image it was very exciting for them. 🙂 However, it is interesting to see that the new femininity of the 1920’s was not expressed in an accentuation of the women’s body but in a toning down of female curves. I will explore the 1920’s Women’s Underwear soon, I hope you’ll like it!
